I think I understand why it's considered an aphrodisiac. The natural inclination is to chew your food. With oysters, you're supposed to let them just slide in and down your throat. Some of the people I was with were connoisseurs. A bit of red sauce and a squirt of lemon to flavor the oyster before sending it down the hatch. Lots of flavor as it slides over your tongue.
